NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (February 4, 2016) – Somerset Eye Care has moved to a new location at 2090 Route 27 with the support of a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan from Unity Bank of Clinton. Drs. Bethany and Jonathan Fishbein, South Brunswick residents, opened the practice in 2001 and previously provided services at locations in Somerset and New Brunswick.
The new custom-built 4,500-square-foot facility has six exam rooms, the latest technology in optometry and a large retail area for glasses, featuring more than 500 frames, many from European designers.
“We have digital refracting systems in most of our exam rooms,” said Bethany Fishbein. “We have a corneal mapping system, to assist with contact lens fitting and monitoring eye health. We take digital retinal photographs on every patient and have the latest technology for monitoring glaucoma and retinal conditions. We provide specialty care for people with low vision from eye diseases like macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. We also fit contact lenses, even hard-to-fit cases like kids, people with astigmatism and bifocals, and scleral lenses for people with keratoconus or impaired vision after cornea surgery or injury.”
The Fishbeins both graduated with their doctorates from New England College of Optometry in Boston, Mass. in 1997. Bethany, originally from Cranford, received her undergraduate degree from SUNY-Binghamton (now Binghamton University) in New York, and Jonathan, originally from Toronto, Canada, graduated from University of Toronto.
